FAQ

Common questions

Grouped by the question someone's most likely to be asking.

General

Are you NDIS-registered?

I'm not currently registered with the NDIS as a provider. I work with plan-managed and self-managed participants. AHPRA registration (clinical) and NDIS registration (program) are different things - the families page walks through why.

How much do you charge?

Per the current NDIS Price Guide for OT services. I don't charge above guide rates, and I don't charge for short coordination phone calls.

Do you see participants at home, in clinic, or at school?

All three, depending on what the goal calls for. The clinic is in Chermside; home and school visits are within roughly 15 km.

How long is the waitlist?

It varies. As of the last update, I have capacity for new participants within two to three weeks. Coordinator referrals for FCAs or AT assessments typically get booked sooner.

Paediatric

Can I sit in on my child's session?

Yes, and for younger children I'd strongly prefer that you do - you're the most important part of generalising any of this beyond the session itself. For older children and adolescents, we'll talk about it together - they often participate more openly without a parent in the room.

What do you need from me before the first appointment?

Any previous OT, speech, or psychology reports; the referring letter if there is one; and a short note from you about what brought you to OT and what you'd want to be different.

How many sessions will we need?

A typical paediatric block is fortnightly sessions over 8–12 weeks, followed by a review. After that we'll have a much clearer picture of whether to continue, pause, or wrap up.

Can you visit my child's school?

Yes, where the visit supports an OT goal already in your child's plan. I'll coordinate with your school's learning-support person directly.

NDIS & reports

Can you write an FCA in time for our plan review?

Usually yes if there are at least four weeks before the meeting. Less than that I'll be honest about whether the report would be useful or rushed.

Will your report support a request for [specific support]?

It will if the clinical picture supports it. I will not write an evidence letter for a support I don't think is the right one - that would harm the participant's plan, not help it.

Can you bill the plan manager directly?

Yes. I invoice the plan manager per session at the NDIS Price Guide rate.
